WHITTIER - Whittier Art Stroll Uptown. No current dates listed. The Whittier Art Stroll Uptown takes place from 5 - 9 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. The event includes art from more than 40 artists, plus live music, treats, a variety of vendors and more. A variety of events are hosted primarily at local businesses. FONTANA - Fontana Car Show. The Fontana Car Show takes place the first Friday of the month (except June) through September from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Fontana Civic Center, 8353 Sierra Avenue. ONTARIO Route 66 Crusin' Reunion. The car show event takes place September 15 and 16 with over 1,000 cars displayed along Euclid Avenue in downtown Ontario. Friday night headlining band will be Ozomatli (Latin Rock) at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday night headlining artist will be Thelma Houston (R&B) at 9 p.m. There also will be a drone light show on Saturday night featuring 100 drones performing synchronized aerial formations. ANAHEIM - Kids Play Day. Families can make their way down to the Center Street Promenade in downtown Anaheim from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on September 9 for a day of good old fashioned play. There will be a variety of activities in the realms of art, sports, literature, science and more. There also will be vendor booths for new toys and food, and a variety of kid-friendly local services. LA OPERA SIMULCAST. The LA Opera kicks off a brand new season in September with Mozart's Don Giovanni, and the public is invited for a special opening night, broadcast live from the stage to locations at the Santa Monica Pier (Opera at the Beach) and La Mirada Regional Park (Opera in the Park). LONG BEACH - KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND (TURN)TABLE. Knights of the Round (Turn)Table is a monthly event modeled after a book club. Each month a different historically significant album is chosen, and participants listen to both sides and discuss it. LONG BEACH - VIRTUAL SHAKESPEARE AND FRIENDS ALOUD. "Shakespeare and Friends Aloud." This season of Shakespeare Aloud hosts readings of Shakespeare's plays and covers works of friends and contemporaries like Christopher Marlow, John Fletcher, Thomas Kyd and others. WEST HOLLYWOOD FREE THEATRE IN THE PARK. The City of West Hollywood and the Pacific Opera Project will present an operatic take on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel." Brought to life with a magical score by Englebert Humperdinck, the production is great for all ages and will be sung in English. ANAHEIM - Anaheim Health Fair. The annual health fair will take place on September 30 and October 1 at the Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W. Katella Avenue. The event will provide free medical, dental, visions, women's and other health services to anyone, especially those who may not have access to healthcare. LOS ANGELES (DOWNTOWN AND VICINITY) - Hip Hop 50 Dance Programs at USC. As part of the USC "Visions and Voices" series, two events will be presented celebrating hip hop dance. The first, "Hip Hop 50: Celebrating Hip Hop Dance Scholarship," will take place on September 20 from 5 - 10 p.m. in the Glorya Kaufman International Dance Center on the USC campus. The event will include panels, workshops and dance performances. The second, "Hip Hop 50: A Birthday Party for Hip Hop," will take place on September 30 from 7 - 10 p.m. in the McCarthy Quad on the USC campus. The community-focused block party will weave a vibrant tapestry of hip hop culture with LA-based dance artists K'niin, Asia One, Versa-Style and UnverSOUL Hip Hop. LOS ANGELES - GRIFFITH PARK - SOUNDWALK. Ellen Reid SOUNDWALK is a free, GPS-enabled work of public art that uses music to illuminate the natural environment of LA's Griffith Park. Created by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and sound artist Ellen Reid, the experience is guided by the listener: the path you choose dictates the music you hear, and no two visits will be exactly the same. After downloading the free app and putting on headphones, participants can explore the park, triggering musical cells that are carefully crafted to harmonize with the park's landscapes and attractions.
