Over the summer, the section introduces, re-introduces and welcomes back as many bands and artists as possible. Past performances: June 11, June 18, June 25, July 2, July 9, July 16, July 23 and July 30 The 2025 Featured Artists section begins with this year's Featured Series: The City of Tustin Concerts in the Park. Concerts take place on Wednesday nights from 6 - 8 p.m. at Peppertree Park, 230 W. First Street near Old Town Tustin. The summer line-up for the concerts in the heart of Orange County includes a wide variety of music from tributes to selections from across the decades. The evening events also feature vendors and food trucks, and available food trucks are posted on the concert page on the city's website. The concerts are made possible by numerous event partners and sponsors including Tustin Parks and Recreation, Tustin Auto Center, Renewal By Anderson, Shugarman's Bath, Raising Cane's, Bridgelink Insurance and Financial Solutions, Mariners Church, Own it Now Realty, CASA for Children, Full Body Pilates, Solely:, Blue Buoy Family Swim School and Aqua-Tots Swim School. The band has audiences up and dancing The Jerk, The Mashed Potatoes and The Twist to hits from artists like The Temptations, The Four Tops, James Brown and many others. Stone Soul has played over 400 SoCal summer concerts as part of the California Park and Recreation Society's "Parks Make Life Better!" summer programs. This year the band is appearing weekly on Tuesday nights at Knott's Berry Farm (through August 5) as well. Over the years they have opened for legends such as Stevie Wonder, BB King, Diana Ross and Huey Lewis and the News at the San Antonio Alamodome. Members of Stone Soul have had their music heard on numerous TV shows such as NCIS and Good Morning America and also in movies such as Hendrix and Cheech and Chong's Animated Movie. This year a Taylor Swift tribute group is having a similar effect on the Southern California summer concert stages. New Romantics is a SoCal-based six-piece (unofficial) Taylor Swift tribute group (not affiliated with TAS Rights Management, Taylor Swift or any related entities). The band is one of the newer bands to the summer concerts, having been formed in May of 2024, and it is led by singer Katie Forester. The group - Forester, two backing vocalists, guitar, keyboards and drums - plays all of the Swiftie favorites, bringing their high energy sound to audiences throught the area. In addition to the park concerts, the band has appeared at a variety of other private and public events in Los Angeles and Orange Counties and in the Inland Empire. The band started in the spring of 2020 out of a deep appreciation of some of the female singers who defined the decade yet are seldom covered by many of the predominantly male 80s bands. They have a true love of the music of the 80s and perform hits from Whitney Houston, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Cindy Lauper, and Heart, among many others. Their performances celebrate all the unique sounds and styles of the decade including Pop, Rock, Soul and New Wave. Members of Radio Royalty are co-lead singers Joanna Beeman, Simone Marie and Heidi West, Betty Navas (guitar/backing vocals), Rob Ferrell (drums), Carly Stock (saxophone/backing vocals), Chris Rogers (saxophone) and Bill Beeman (bass). In addition to the park concerts, the band also performs at a variety of corporate, private and non-profit events. Bandleader Haile Blackman also is the group's lead singer as well as guitarist, drummer and producer. He is originally from the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago and is the son of the legendary creator of Soca music, the late Ras Shorty I. Members of the band include Derek Brewstafari (steel drums/vocals), Einstein Brown (E-pan/tenor pan/vocals), Granville Cayetano (bass/keys and background vocals), Daniel Lopilato (keys/guitar/vocals) and Robert Abraham (B-Bow) (drums/backround vocals). Others appearing on various occasions with the band include John McKnight (keys/bass/steel pedal/trombone/guitar and vocals), Mark Spiller (drums/percussion/vocals), Marlon Alegria (keys/vocals) and Clive Ross (bass/vocals). Upstream currently has eight recordings of compilations and live albums available, along with a new collection of songs and singles to be digitally released. The band performs regularly at a variety of festivals and private functions in addition to the park concerts, and they have appeared at venues across Southern California including Downtown Disney, Knott's Berry Farm, and the Art-a-Fair and the Sawdust Festivals in Laguna Beach. Rounding out the foursome are Rob Pry (drums) and Aaron Archer (keyboard/vocals). The band has travelled far and wide in their decades of performances. In the 1970s, the band was the official band of "The River" in Arizona, where they played sold out concerts for many summer seasons. From 2001 to 2005, The Answer was the official house band for Southern California radio station Arrow 93FM. Over the years they have opened on stage for Pat Benatar, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Blue Oyster Cult, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Jefferson Starship, Journey, Yes, Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, Dave Mason and many, many others. They have a long track record and cumulatively have likely played more summer concerts than any other band in the area. Their stage energy, antics, free giveaways and big video/EFX show performances have kept them popular with audiences throughout Southern California. Wrangling through the top country hits of the last six decades, their sets get crowds singing and dancing in true honky-tonk fashion. Redneck Rodeo calls themselves "America's country band," keeping the heart of country music alive with their energetic performances. The band fills every venue with a non-stop country party. In addition to the summer concerts, Redneck Rodeo performs their mix of new and classic hits at festivals, corporate events, private parties and in a variety of other venues. The group offers a wide blend of music in English of Latin, Soul, Old School, Funk, Dance, Pop and other songs, plus Spanish music including Cumbias, Salsa, Nortenas, Rock en Espanol and even Reggaeton. The band is composed of seven musicians with over 40 years of collective experience. With their diverse musical styles and extensive performance history, the band is capable of playing for a wide range of audiences. In addition to the park concerts, the band has performed at corporate and private events and casinos across Arizona and Southern California. Their repertoire includes an all-Latin show, excerpts of which can be viewed in the video below. For many years they have used the phrase Blues, Soul and Rock 'n Roll to describe their music, blending classic soul music with rock 'n roll hits and more. They are known for their high-energy performances, and their repertoire includes music from the 1970s to the present. Members of Family Style are Tony Rodriguez (drums/lead vocals), Vic Rodriguez (guitar/vocals), Richard Tyznik (saxophone), Marvin McDaniel (guitar/lead vocals) and Henry Soliz (bass/vocals). In addition to the park concerts and private events, the band has appeared at the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts and well-known local venues like Muldoons and the Swallow's Inn.
