2025 ARTIST STATEMENT BY ASTRID PRESTON. My work is rooted in my experience of the world, with nature providing my vocabulary. The paintings are basically inner landscapes that grow out of the act of observing my surroundings. They are an exploration and a search - a dialogue between what goes on inside and outside. The City of Lakewood invites the public to a flag-lowering ceremony at 6:30 p.m. outside of City Hall, 5050 Clark Avenue. The ceremony will include the presentation of colors, remarks from Lakewood's mayor, a keynote speaker, musical performance and moment of silence. At the conclusion of the ceremony, trumpeters from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department will play taps as our national flag is lowered for the night and the Los Angeles County Fire Department will conduct a bell-ringing ceremony.
